Space&Matter, along with design partners ZUS and NL Architects, has developed a nature-inclusive urban design for a new residential neighbourhood on Amsterdam's Strandeiland. The plan includes 215 homes and a community hub, with a strong focus on energy self-sufficiency, circularity, and community building. The neighbourhood is organised into five distinct clusters, each with unique housing styles and integrated green spaces that promote social interaction. Landscape designs introduce diverse dune biotopes that enhance ecological resilience. At the heart of the development is a multifunctional mobility and community hub, featuring public amenities, shared mobility options, and flexible spaces.
