SAMPLE is an inclusive, mixed-use development in Amsterdam North that exemplifies circular and community-driven urban design. Rooted in values like solidarity, shared responsibility, and inclusivity, it was developed through a broad collaboration including KondorWessels, Common City, Mecanoo, ZUS, and local group Verdedig Noord, among others. The project integrates social and ecological sustainability, emphasizing community involvement in shaping housing and public space. Its "productive plinth" hosts circular businesses such as Roetz, Growy, and Spectral, offering jobs and educational opportunities. Above, 357 timber modular homes by Finch Buildings are arranged around biodiverse gardens to foster interaction and shared living. With 80% bio-based or reused materials, SAMPLE is a model for a circular, inclusive society where living and working harmoniously coexist.
